The upcoming public art installation project inspired me to look into public art in my home city, Los Angeles. I learned that the colorful lights I see every time I travel through LAX are an intentional piece of art, with the different arrays of colors representing different aspects of the city, from its identity as an American city to its geographical identity. In the attached article, artist Paul Tzanetopoulos describes his intention of creating a welcoming atmosphere the moment travelers arrive at LAX.
