Tonight was the hunters moon, so the moon looked huge and had a beautiful orange color. The reason the moon appears so big is because of something known as the moon illusion. The moon illusion refers to a trick our eyes play on us that makes the moon look bigger near the trees and buildings of the horizon than it does standing alone in the sky.
The moon illusion and the hunters moon reminded me of the work we did with trying to create perspective in projects 1.1 and 1.3. By placing objects in the foreground and background you can completely change your brains interpretation of the size and position of the surrounding objects.
Furthermore, I found it interesting that the orange hunters moon occurs every year around October, and the color orange is associated with October. It is intriguing how certain words cause certain colors to come to mind, which is one of the concepts we used in project 1.3.
