Marjane Satrapi is an Iranian author, illustrator, and filmmaker, best known for her graphic autobiography Persepolis. In her memoir, Satrapi shares about her childhood, growing up in Iran during the 1970s and 80s in the midst of the Islamic Revolution and Iran-Iraq war. In addition to being poignantly narrated, the novel is beautifully illustrated, with careful thought in the use of light and dark, size, contrast, character design, layout, and composition.
