This weekend as I was walking to Target I stumbled upon an outdoor fine art fair in Rittenhouse Square. In this event, spanning from Friday to Sunday (9/13-15), 143 artists exhibited and sold their works in one of 6 categories: oils & acrylics, drawings & pastels, mixed media, printmaking, and sculpture & watercolor.
This show is the oldest outdoor fine arts show in the country; it began in 1928 by a group of Philadelphia art students hanging their artwork on clotheslines in the park. Now it is a nationally recognized art show featuring artists from across the country (and from a few international artists, too).
My favorite artist that I saw while I walked through the fair was Yu Zhou, an oil painter from Beijing who makes photorealistic still life images.
